Membership Guidelines
We want this to be a fun and inviting environment. These guidelines serve as a formal reminder of what should be common sense.
1. Membership Is for Cigar Smokers
We’re a cigar club… obviously. Membership is reserved for people who actually smoke cigars. You don’t have to be an aficionado, but you do need to participate in the hobby the club is built around.
2. Don’t be a dick.
3. Attendance
If attendance is going to be an issue on multiple occasions or for an extended period, talk to one of our Club Council members. We understand life happens and are willing to talk about it.
Though we don’t have strict attendance requirements, missing 3 or more club meetings, without communication, in a row is grounds for removal from Stick Suckers Cigar Club.
4. Club Dues
Club dues of $10/mo are mandatory
Club dues are used to cover the cost of club gatherings, maintain the domain, maintain rights to our logo, design new swag, and when the funds build up an appropriate amount will be used for member appreciation.
Does that mean we get a pizza party? Kind of, but instead of pizza, you get cigars and bourbon.
5. Contribution
Club dues can be used to cover the cost of the monthly club meeting. However, the host is not responsible for providing you with a full meal including drinks and cigars while you are there. Bring a side, a bottle, or even utensils to eat with. If you need/want club funds to cover the costs of your contribution, let a Club Council member know.
You are not required to use your own money for anything you do not feel comfortable doing or cannot do. However, if you feel comfortable doing so it means that more club funds will be available for other things.
We try to rotate who “hosts” the event each month to avoid burnout or putting responsibility on any one person. If you have the space and are able, please volunteer to host from time to time. If you don’t have the space, that’s okay.
During the summer months, we typically host our club events at the river. Members who are unable to host at their homes will be encouraged to “host” at the river location to take pressure off the members who host all winter.
6. Happy Wife, Happy Life
If you piss off any of the wives, you dug your own grave.
7. Wear your shirts
Okay, so this one isn’t required. But we have some sweet members-only swag. Why join a club if you aren’t willing to represent it?
Violators of this non-mandatory rule can expect to be chastised.
8. Bring your challenge coin to ALL club events
If you're challenged and don’t have your coin, you owe the challenger a cigar of your choice from your personal stash.
This rule is all in good fun—no one will press the issue if there's a valid reason. It's meant to uphold the spirit of the challenge coin tradition and encourage camaraderie.
Note: New members are exempt during their probationary period.
Joining Stick Suckers Cigar Club
Interest in joining Stick Suckers Cigar Club does not guarantee membership. Before a vote can be held, the club needs time to get to know you. Attending Friday Night Smokes is a great way to build those connections.
When the time feels right, the club will vote on your membership. A simple majority vote is needed for approval. However, if any current member has a serious, valid objection, it will result in an automatic denial—regardless of the vote outcome. We prioritize the comfort and harmony of all members and their families.
If You’re Declined:
Please respect the decision. We’ve worked hard to maintain a certain culture and atmosphere within the club. If it’s felt that you or your family don’t align with that, it’s in everyone’s best interest to part ways respectfully.
If You’re Accepted:
New members will begin with a 30-day probationary period.
Upon acceptance, you will:
• Receive your first club shirt, free of charge
• Be invited to join the club’s Discord channel (for communication and event planning)
• Be eligible to purchase additional club swag
• Be welcome at all future club events
At the end of your probation, the Club President will present you with your members-only challenge coin.
Voluntary Membership
Membership is voluntary. Should you decide that Stick Suckers Cigar Club is no longer for you, you may leave at any time. Please be courteous and inform a club council member about your decision to leave.
• Any club dues paid in advance will be refunded within 1 week of dropping out of the club
• Prior month’s dues or club swag is non-refundable
Termination
In the event that a member’s conduct becomes a concern, the club follows a clear and fair removal process. This structure ensures consistency, transparency, and an opportunity for improvement.
1. Verbal Warning: A private discussion to address the issue and outline expectations moving forward.
2. Written Warning: The concern is formally documented, and the member is given a reasonable period—typically 30 days—to make improvements.
3. Final Warning: If the issue persists, it proceeds to the final warning stage, indicating that the matter will move to a vote.
4. Club Vote: A standard vote is held, and a simple majority determines the outcome.
Special Circumstances: If the situation requires discretion or a quieter approach, the Club Council may vote in place of the full club. In these cases, the Council’s vote must be unanimous to approve removal.
Conflict of Interest: Family members may not vote for or against the removal of their own direct family members.
A detailed version of this process is available upon request.
All decisions reached through this process are final.
Club Communication (Discord)
The Stick Suckers Cigar Club utilizes Discord as its exclusive platform for all communication and event coordination. This centralized system allows members to connect, organize, and share information efficiently, eliminating the confusion often caused by group texts or social media threads.
Participation on Discord is required for all members. Without access to the server, members will miss important updates, discussions, and the sense of community that define our club.
All events, announcements, and RSVPs are managed exclusively through Discord. Members who are not active on the platform will not receive information regarding meeting times, event locations, or club activities.
Members are welcome to invite their significant others to join the server; however, this is entirely optional.
We recognize that Discord may feel unfamiliar or overwhelming at first. Members may mute channels they do not wish to receive notifications from, and any current member will gladly assist new users in navigating the platform.
The following channels are mandatory for all members to monitor regularly:
🗳️ #club-votes – Official polls and voting matters
📢 #important-announcements – Critical updates and club-wide notices
📅 Monthly meeting channels (e.g., #october-club-meeting) – Details for scheduled gatherings
Social Media
Club members are encouraged, but not obligated, to follow Stick Suckers Cigar Club on Facebook and Instagram.
When engaging with our social media posts, please keep your interactions positive and respectful. These platforms serve as a way to promote the club and connect with the broader cigar community, including industry professionals. Let’s represent the club well.
Purchased Swag
Member-only swag is made to order, so we do not keep extra stock. Please be sure to select the correct size when ordering, as we cannot offer refunds except for defective items.
Refunds will not be issued for wrong-size items. Size charts are available upon request. Rogue Threads welcomes our members to come in and try on items if needed.
Swag Rules
Stick Suckers Cigar Club merchandise is a privelege of membership. All club merchandise is exclusive to club members and their direct family members.
Any club merchandise shared with industry professionals is voted on by the club before being distributed.
Club merchandise is not available for non-members.
Additional Chapters
No additional chapters may be established without the explicit consent of the founding Chapter. The creation of new chapters is subject to approval by a club vote.
